Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program
Pharmacy Technicians are health care
professionals who assist the pharmacist in a retail
environment in providing quality health care in a community
pharmacy setting. Students will acquire knowledge related
to uses, actions, and side effects of prescription and
over-the-counter medications. Inventory techniques, proper
verification of prescriptions for completeness, labeling and
proper use of auxiliary labels are topics that will be
emphasized. Administrative and communication skills will
be stressed. In order to be credentialed as a State
Certified Pharmacy Technician the student must earn the
Pharmacy Technician Certificate, work 1,000 hours as a
Registered Pharmacy Technician, and have passed the Pharmacy
Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) administered by the
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
