Fall semester ‘last call’ for no-cost tuition at PTC

This fall likely will be the “last call” to pay zero dollars for tuition at Piedmont Technical College (PTC). College officials worked diligently to tap various funding sources to extend the no-cost option through the 2023 fall semester and are urging students to take advantage of the benefit while they can.

Power:Ed Grant to Provide GAP Scholarships to Underserved and Nontraditional PTC Students

Power:Ed, a Columbia-based philanthropy of South Carolina Student Loan Corporation, has awarded $30,000 to Piedmont Technical College (PTC) to support scholarships covering tuition and educational expenses for underserved and nontraditional students, with an emphasis on African American and Hispanic students.

Greenwell receives FFA Honorary State Degree

At its annual state convention on June 7, the SC Future Farmers of America (FFA) presented its highest administrator, teacher, or community member award — the FFA Honorary State Degree — to Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Horticulture and Agriculture Department Head Daniel Greenwell. Greenwell was among 17 individual FFA state members recognized with the honor at a gala ceremony in Greenville. 

So you want to officiate youth sports? PTC has your back

While their shirts may be black and white, their decisions are anything but. Officiating a sporting event comes with great enjoyment and satisfaction but also intense challenge and heavy criticism. For those willing to test their mettle, Piedmont Technical College’s Continuing Education and Economic Development Division this summer is offering three monthlong courses in sports officiating. Successful completion will be rewarded with certification to officiate youth sports.

Be prepared, do the right things, and dream big, Millender tells PTC graduates

“I’ll bet that two out of three of you will be doing something different within 10 years, something you had not planned on doing,” retired Capsugel executive Ron Millender told some 415 new Piedmont Technical College (PTC) graduates at their commencement exercises on May 4, 2023. “Being in the right place at the right time is important, but being prepared is critical. … My whole career has been about being ready for that next opportunity.”

PTC Faculty Champions Return of Honors Program

Faculty members at Piedmont Technical College (PTC) are known for their personal attention to student success. Recently, several of them campaigned to bring back PTC’s Honors Program, which was discontinued around 2015. Operating an honors program does require some financial investment by the college to pay for such things as tuition waivers, exclusive amenities and incentives, travel experiences, and more. However, PTC faculty were able to effectively persuade decision-makers to reinstate it for the greater benefit of students.
