Piedmont Technical
College recognizes that all of you may not be
ready for four-year universities when you
graduate from high school or at whatever point
in life you decide to continue your education.
Piedmont’s established joint admission
programs with Newberry College that will help you get started on your college
education by allowing you to take advantage
of this educational institution. The joint
admissions process creates a smooth transfer
pathway between Piedmont Technical College,
a two-year college, and the senior colleges and
universities. After obtaining an associate’s
degree at Piedmont, you can easily complete a
bachelor’s degree at one of the senior colleges
or universities.
The benefits of the Joint Admissions Programs
include:
-
one
application or enrollment fee
-
a
larger selection of transferable courses
-
joint
advisement for students between Piedmont
and the senior institution
-
free
transcripts from Piedmont to the senior
institution
-
a
smoother transfer pathway after graduating
from Piedmont
-
the
opportunity to take advantage of jointly
sponsored activities, such as taking
courses at the senior institution*
The
joint admissions process is similar for all
participating colleges and universities:
-
When
you enroll in a degree program at Piedmont
Technical College, you can also enroll in one
of the participating educational
institutions by completing a joint
admissions application and paying
Piedmont’s enrollment fee. The
senior institutions application or
enrollment fee will be waived. At this
time, you will meet with an advisor at
Piedmont, who will discuss courses you should
take that will transfer to the senior
institution. Each institution has a
maximum number of credit hours that
they will accept for graduation from
Piedmont. As a Piedmont student, you must
maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
and expect to transfer only courses that are successfully
completed with a minimum of a “C” grade.
-
Upon
graduation from Piedmont you will request
that a transcript of all your courses be sent
to the participating senior institution and
you will contact the transfer officer at the senior
institution to alert them of your intent to
transfer. An evaluation of your course work will
be completed and you will receive a letter
of acceptance from the senior institution.
After this you are on your way to
completing your baccalaureate degree.
Program guidelines for each
participating institution are stated on
their joint admissions application
forms, which may be obtained from any
Piedmont advisor or from the transfer coordinator.
These guidelines include such items as
general education placement requirements, foreign
language requirements and other specific
entrance/graduation requirements for the
senior institution. More
information on transferring to Newberry
College may also be found on each
senior institution’s Web site.
Piedmont
Technical College also has a Parallel Advisement

Admissions programs except students are required
to complete an admissions applications upon
enrolling at USC - Aiken. For more information
