Piedmont Technical College will co-host a health care conference with Self Regional Healthcare January 27 entitled “What Electronic Medical Records and the Health Information Exchange Means to You.” A collaborative effort between the two organizations, the half-day conference was created for the benefit of physicians’ offices and training providers to inform them of the benefits of electronic medical records. The conference agenda will include discussion about the statewide effort to move to electronic medical records, review of the proposed training curriculum and insight into grant opportunities. A demo of AllScripts electronic medical records software will also be presented. Working alongside Self Regional Healthcare, one of the area’s largest employers and a leader in health care, Piedmont Technical College will provide insight into advances in electronic health care communication through the educational perspective. With the required transfer of paper health care documents to electronic files in the near future, the search for qualified training will ensue. Piedmont Technical College, the area’s leader in training, will review options to provide quality electronic medical records training to all medical practices in our area. “We hope that this event will act as a vehicle to inform and increase awareness of advances in the health care information exchange,” said Deborah Hoffman, director of health care programs for Continuing Education at Piedmont Technical College. “Representatives from physicians’ offices and technical colleges across the state will be invited to attend.” For more information about the conference, contact Hoffman at (864) 941-8426. |
