Some facts about the Edgefield and Saluda
County Centers and Communities

The Edgefield County Center

Edgefield County CenterThe Edgefield County Center is located at 506 Main Street, three blocks off the town square.

John Chapman, author of The History of Edgefield County, SC, writes in 1897:

"...Edgefield [was] always noted for the culture and refinement of its people... . The town [is] now...fully up in the march of progress with other parts of the State.

"The climate is simply delicious, neither too cold nor too hot. The soil is excellent and produces cotton in perfection... . About two-thirds of the county is clay land--oak and hickory--the balance heavily timbered with the yellow pine; is sandy and lying well, produces heavy cotton crops."

Although still blessed with great resources, Edgefield's greatest natural resource is its people--young and old. PTC is proud to have a part in training the people of Edgefield County for the future.

Courses I teach on Mondays and Wednesdays in Edgefield

The Saluda County Center

Saluda County CenterLocated on Highway 178, the "Batesburg- Leesville Highway," 2 miles east of Saluda, the Saluda County Center is located in a historic area.

John Chapman, area historian, writes of Saluda County:

"There is no finer region of country in the State than that which lies on Big Saluda, and which is traversed by Little Saluda and Red Bank and other streams."

Saluda County is the home of two Alamo heroes: William Barrett Travis and James Butler Bonham. It is a place of great historical events, and yet it is a forward looking community. PTC is proud to help train people for the future in Saluda County.
