There are three fields of study in Computer Technology; Programming, Networking, and Internet. Graduates of Computer Technology will be prepared for a career in the information technology world.
Graduates in this field may be required to:
plan, design, and develop programming applications or network systems
program in languages such as Visual Basic, Java, C++, HTML, Dreamweaver, or SQL
create and host web applications
install, configure and troubleshoot pc's and network issues
Graduates in this field commonly experience:
work inside; office, computer rooms
work under stress to meet deadlines
considerable paperwork
overtime / night / weekend hours sometimes necessary
work in cooperation with others
work with direct supervision
light lifting (50 lbs or less)
Graduates in this field should have:
excellent communication skills -- writing and speaking
ability to work with data (numbers, symbols, ideas, concepts)
ability to work well with people / diverse population
ability to reason and make judgments
ability to "catch on" quickly
attention to detail / proofread quickly and effectively
