Nursing Assistant
The Nursing Assistant course is a study of concepts required to assist with nursing care. Among some of the skills learned are vital signs, promoting safety, infection control, body mechanics and assisting with client assessment. Successful completion of course consists of classroom, skills lab and clinical experience. Once these areas have been successfully accomplished, a student may apply to take the national certification examination. This course consists of variable hours totaling 90 hours. Navy blue uniforms and white shoes must be worn for skills lab, facility tour and clinical. Students must have a college ID for Nursing Assistant by the third week of class. A two-step TB test is required and results must be submitted to the instructor by the third week of class. Students who do not turn in the two-step TB forms will not go to clinical and will fail the course. Required textbooks include the Nursing Assistant Handout Packet, The Nursing Assistant's Handbook by Hartman Publishing, and Workbook: The Nursing Assistant's Handbook by Hartman Publishing. Blood pressure kits will be purchased after the first week of class.

Beginning Motorcycle Riding
