The Center for Workforce Development
The
Workforce Development Center has diverse functions. It is
home for the college’s Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Services,
pre-employment training programs and other special projects.
WIA
The Workforce Investment Act is a federally funded program
that assists job seekers to find employment. WIA One-Stop
Workforce Centers are open to any job seeker and are located
in Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens, and Newberry County
Employment Security Offices. The South Carolina Employment
Security Commission and the Upper Savannah Council of
Government Workforce Development Division fund area centers.
Piedmont Technical College administers the adult program
in Greenwood and runs a satellite One-Stop Workforce Center.
Piedmont Technical College invites all
job seekers to visit the WIA One-Stop Workforce Center
in Room 137-A on the Lex Walters Campus, Greenwood. Walk-ins
are welcome!
Hours:
Monday & Tuesday: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
Wednesday & Thursday: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Friday: Closed

Special
Projects
This center collaborates with many service agencies such
as Upper Savannah Council of Government Workforce Division,
GLEAMNS Community Action Agency, Department of Social
Services, and the Department of Juvenile Justice to design
training programs. The center actively seeks grants to
fund many of these projects.
