The Criminal Justice Department prepares
students to become effective
practitioners. Through the
Associate's
Degree Program,
students train to work in agencies,
qualify for professional advancement, or
pursue studies at a four-year institution.
Classroom experiences, internships and
simulations provide a basic understanding
of laws and procedures required by law
enforcement agencies, courts and
correctional institutions.

Rebecca
Lorick
Criminal Justice Program Graduate,
Greenwood, SC
“During
my two years at Piedmont Technical
College, I gained the leadership,
skills, confidence, and knowledge that
were necessary to continue my education
at a four year institution. The
instructors prepared me for a future
career in the public service field.
I will graduate in December 2002 from
Newberry College with a BA in Sociology
and plan to continue my education at the
graduate level. My experiences at
Piedmont Technical College laid a strong
foundation that enabled me to become
successful."
James
F. Moore
Deputy Sheriff, Newberry Sheriff's
Department & Criminal Justice
Program Graduate, Newberry, SC
“I
found the CRJ program to be a very
rewarding and meaningful experience.
It prepared me well for the SC Criminal
Justice Academy and for working the
field of law enforcement."
Dorothy
Hughey
Criminal Justice Program Graduate,
Abbeville, SC
“The
criminal justice field has taught me
more than just law. It has taught
me how to be more attentive about life,
how to look at life in all aspects, and
does not limit me or my abilities to one
particular subject. It has taught
me how to learn and grow as a person and
that any obstacle can be accomplished by
hard work, dedication and time." |

Robin
E. Morse, Chief, Laurens Police
Department & Criminal Justice
Program Graduate, Laurens, SC
“As
a graduate of the CRJ program at
Piedmont Technical College, as a parent
of a student in the program, as a police
chief who uses the program's graduates,
and a member of the CRJ Advisory
Committee, I have and have had extensive
contact with the program. I find
that its graduates possess qualities
that will enable them to successfully
perform in the law enforcement field.
Those whom we have hired have proven to
be an asset both to our department as
well as to Piedmont Technical College.
Whenever we have a vacancy, PTC is at
the forefront in our search for
candidates for the vacancy."
