When
do health science programs begin?
Enrollment
in health science programs is limited,
and enrollment only takes place at
certain times of the year.
Students should learn the requirements
of the specific programs in which they
are interested.
Is
it possible to work and earn a health
science degree at the same time?
The
time commitment for health science
programs is very demanding.
Depending on the program, clinicals may
be scheduled at health care facilities
in Abbeville, Anderson, Greenwood,
Laurens or Newberry Counties, and
students are required to spend some
hours on second and/or weekend
shifts. It is, therefore, often
difficult to complete the program while
holding a full-time job.
Where
are clinicals held?
Depending
on the program, clinicals may be
scheduled in Abbeville, Anderson,
Greenwood, Laurens or Newberry Counties,
and students are required to spend some
hours on second and/or weekend
shifts.
What
arrangements should I make for
transportation?
Students
participate in clinicals and externships
that requires transportation to various
medical offices in the seven counties
that PTC serves and in Anderson.
Students need to be aware that these
experiences are required for program
completion and that transportation to
and from offices is the student's
expense and responsibility.
Will
I see blood?
Students
should be prepared for exposure to
vomit, blood, urine, feces and other
bodily fluids.
Will
I be exposed to contagious diseases?
Students
will be exposed to contagious diseases,
however, universal precautions are
taught in all curriculums to keep
students safe.
