The Interior
Design Certificate Program is designed to
provide a basic understanding of the
skills required to enter the field of
interior design in support positions
assisting designers, as well as for other
management and support positions in
interior design offices or related
industries.
This program equips students with the
skills and knowledge to enter this
rewarding field. Certificate candidates
learn to create and implement all phases
of a design, including space planning,
selection of furniture and finishes, and
preparation of drawings. Candidates also
learn about preparing cost estimates and
business documents and collaborating with
members of related professions. The scope
and sequence of the program’s courses
allow students to address structural and
space planning issues, design principles,
visual communication skills and business
practices through instruction and hands-on
experience.
The courses offered in the Interior Design
Certificate Program may be taken
individually without enrolling in the
program. This program is designed for two
purposes; for those seeking the basic
knowledge and skills required for an entry
level position in the field of interior
design, whether or not they are currently
employed in the field; or those who are
currently employed and are seeking
knowledge in interior decorating for their
own use or considering a change of career.
