Information Commons Policies |
|
|
|
Above all, visitors are expected to be considerate of others while in the Information Commons. Please be aware that your actions may impact the people around you who are trying to complete assignments, study for tests, and prepare for class.
Noise & Disruption
Many students visit the Information Commons and the County Center LRCs in search of a place to work without distraction. With that in mind, we ask all library visitors to follow these policies:
- All conversation should be kept at a respectful level.
- Whenever possible, group study should take place in a library study room. Library staff will assist in locating a place where visitors might study together.
- Cell phone ringers should be silenced, and students should go to the library foyer or outside for phone conversations.
- Headphones must be worn and volume must be kept low when accessing electronic sound clips or listening to music.
Computer Use
- Lab computers are reserved for student and employee use only. Eight (8) public computers are available for other visitors in the middle of the Information Commons.
- Computers are provided for educational purposes only.
- Viewing pornography is absolutely prohibited! If this behavior occurs, campus security will be notified immediately.
- Please help save on printing costs! Visitors may print one copy of a document. Print jobs are restricted to 25 pages or less. Whenever possible, please print multiple pages or slides per sheet, print double-sided, or print in draft mode. Please see a library or lab staff member if you need to assistance with these functions or need to print more than 25 pages.
Children in the Information Commons
- It is absolutely forbidden for children to be left alone in the library. All young children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Anyone who brings disruptive children into the Information Commons will be asked to leave.
- Adolescents who are reading or studying are welcome to use the library.
