Outstanding Students Honored at Piedmont Technical College Graduation

At Piedmont Technical College’s recent spring commencement exercises, outstanding students from each of the college’s seven supporting counties were honored for academic achievement. 

 

Piedmont Technical College Honors Graduates during Commencement

The James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College welcomed more than 300 Piedmont Technical College graduates for two commencement ceremonies to celebrate their accomplishments.

Dr. Ray Brooks, president, welcomed graduates, family and guests to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates.

Piedmont Tech BCT Program Wins Award

Piedmont Technical College’s building construction technology program recently won the 2015 Service Learning Award presented by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. The program was honored for their work on a renovation project at the Ninety Six National Historical Site, locally known as Star Fort.

“We are extremely proud of our students,” said David Kibler, interim dean of engineering and industrial technologies at PTC. “It was a great opportunity for the students to work collaboratively with the community.”

Summer Camps and Programs Provide Options for All Ages

Young people looking for something different, fun and exciting to do this summer will find several options available from Piedmont Technical College. A variety of educational as well as entertaining camps and programs will be offered for kids of all ages.

Students Honored at Awards Ceremony

At Piedmont Technical College’s 41st annual Student Awards and Recognition Program, president Dr. Ray Brooks applauded the achievements of more than 75 student leaders.  The ceremony attracted students, faculty, staff, friends and family members.

Awards for service to Piedmont Technical College totaling 320 years were presented at a recent luncheon. Piedmont Technical College to Hold Commencement May 7

Piedmont Technical College will hold two spring commencement exercises on May 7. 

Commencement exercises will begin at 3 p.m. for agriculture, industrial & engineering technologies, business and computer technology and public service graduates. A ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. for Associate of Arts and Science, health science and nursing graduates. Both commencement exercises will be held in the James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood. 

PTC to Host She’s Somebody’s Hero with Diana Jordan

Women have always been heroes. They do extraordinary things, but so often, we think of them as ordinary. They shape the world, trying to make it kinder, softer, more compassionate, and a more beautiful place to live.

To celebrate women, Piedmont Technical College will host “She’s Somebody’s Hero featuring Diana Jordan” Friday, May 15.

New Board Members Named to PTC Foundation

The Piedmont Technical College Foundation has named three new members to its board for the coming year. They are Jimmy Burke of Greenwood, Jeff Wilson of Abbeville and William Whitfield of Saluda. Whitfield was named to the board as a representative for the Piedmont Technical College Area Commission.

Burke is the area operations manager for South Carolina and Georgia for CenturyLink. He and his wife, Tracy, have four children - Kelli Phiffer, James Burke, Jr., Amanda Burke and Raine Bradley.

Piedmont Tech Offers a Piece of History in Abbeville

Piedmont Technical College officially opened its new facility in Abbeville nearly one year ago, and now the PTC Foundation is offering an opportunity for residents to leave their own legacy at the campus.

In the historic tradition of a legacy of bricks in Abbeville County, the PTC Foundation is offering residents the opportunity to purchase an engraved brick at the entrance of the facility to commemorate the opening of the new Abbeville Campus.
