Horticulture Program Welcomes New Coordinator

Murdock earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Clemson University. Following graduation, he opened his own landscaping company. But he decided that wasn’t for him.

“Self-employment is a 24/7 job,” Murdock said. “I enjoyed it and we did well, but I wanted to do something else.”

PTC College Fair Highlights Bridge and Transfer Partnerships

More than 30 colleges and universities were in attendance recently at a College Transfer Fair sponsored by Piedmont Technical College. The fair was provided to give students information on special bridge programs and transfer pathways.

PTC Business Instructor Finds Students around the World

Judy Daulton has been in the business department of Piedmont Technical College for nearly 24 years. She teaches students from many different hometowns and backgrounds. When she started teaching accounting, she knew she would have students from the seven-county area like Greenwood and Newberry and even farther away like Columbia and Greenville. She never imagined she would have students from Ireland and the Philippines.

Phi Beta Lambda Hosts National Speaker

The Piedmont Technical College chapter of Phi Beta Lambda recently hosted guest speaker Thomas Payne, director of college and university relations with Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc.

Piedmont Tech to Sponsor College Transfer Fair

Piedmont Technical College will sponsor a College Transfer Fair Tuesday, March 12 in room 155B on the Lex Walters Campus. More than 30 colleges and universities will be in attendance to give students information on special bridge programs and transfer pathways. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

PTC Sponsors Annual Black History Month Poetry Jam

Students, faculty and staff at Piedmont Technical College recently participated in an Open Mic Poetry Jam in celebration of Black History Month. Presenters included guest poet Kimbi “The Goddess” of Unifyed Sol Poets. 

New Dean of Arts and Sciences Named

Evelyn Beck has been named Piedmont Technical College’s dean of Arts and Sciences. Beck replaces Donna Foster who was named associate vice president of institutional assessment and compliance in August.

Piedmont Tech Students Named to Academic All-State

Two Piedmont Technical College students were recently among those named to the Phi Theta Kappa South Carolina All-State Academic Team. Todd Raugh of Greenwood and Erika Tinsley of Newberry will be among the 23 students honored at a ceremony in Columbia in March.

Local High School Students Introduced to Engineering Technology

As part of its continuing efforts to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the engineering technology program and Tau Alpha Pi, the engineering technology honor society at Piedmont Technical College, recently celebrated National Engineers Week by inviting high school students to learn more about the career.

Automotive Program Earns Awards for Second Cobra

cobraawards910Piedmont Technical College’s automotive technology program is continuing its winning ways with its student-built 1965 Cobra Replica, taking Best Race Car in the recent McCormick Car Show and earning recognition at the Saluda Classic Truck and Auto Show.
