NHC of Greenwood and Laurens Aid Nursing Program at PTC

PTC Welcomes Students Back to Class

Students at Piedmont Technical College recently headed back to class. Interested students still have time to enroll for Late Term, which begins September 26.

Cardiovascular Technology Program Receives Accreditation

The Cardiovascular Technology program at Piedmont Technical College recently received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), becoming the only associate degree cardiovascular technology program accredited in the state.

“The accreditation is a testament to the quality of the Cardiovascular Technology program at Piedmont Technical College,” said Jerry Alewine, dean of health science.

Longtime PTC Instructor Receives Award

Kathryn White, an adjunct instructor at Piedmont Technical College, has been awarded the first annual Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award.

Nursing Graduates Recognized at Pinning Ceremony

Recent graduates of Piedmont Technical College’s associate degree nursing and practical nursing programs at the Lex Walters campus were recognized in a pinning ceremony in August. 

 

Outstanding Students Recognized at Graduation

At Piedmont Technical College’s recent summer commencement exercises, outstanding students from each of the college’s seven supporting counties were honored for academic achievement. 

 

Commencement at Piedmont Technical College Honors Graduates

The James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College welcomed more than 375 Piedmont Technical College graduates for two commencement ceremonies to celebrate their accomplishments.

Dr. Ray Brooks, president, welcomed graduates, family and guests to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates.

College Prep Utilizes Teaching Method with Superior Results

The College Preparatory division at Piedmont Technical College has introduced a new method of teaching math, called the Emporium method, that is producing a success rate nearly twice that of the national average.

“At PTC, student success has always been our primary concern,” said Lisa Martin, dean. “As our enrollment continues to grow at PTC, we have to look at new ways to deliver instruction to a very diverse population.”

Piedmont Technical College to Hold Commencement August 8

Piedmont Technical College will be holding two summer commencement exercises on August 8. 

Commencement exercises will begin at 3 p.m. for business and information technology, industrial and engineering technology graduates. A 7 p.m. ceremony will be held for Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, health science and nursing graduates. Both commencement exercises will be held in the James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood. 

Piedmont Tech Implements Call Me MISTER Program

Through a new program at Piedmont Technical College called Call Me MISTER, the college is taking action to address a problem of national proportions.

“The Call Me MISTER program is an initiative to promote careers in education for African American males,” said Steve Coleman, director of Project Genesis. “There is a large gap in the number of African American men in the classroom.”
