Automotive Technology Program Welcomes New Coordinator

brademery911If you go by Southern Automotive in Greenwood to see Brad Emery, you may not find him there. That’s because he is now the program coordinator for the automotive technology program at Piedmont Technical College.

Piedmont Tech Awarded $8 Million in Grants

In these tough economic times, Piedmont Technical College is maximizing all possible funding resources. PTC was recently awarded three new grants, bringing the fiscal year total to more than $8 million.

The three newest grants awarded to the college are the Title III grant totaling $2 million, the Predominately Black Institutions (PBI) grant from the U.S. Department of Education for $2.4 million and the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant (TAACCCTG) for $1.65 million.

PTC’s Second Award-winning Cobra Could Be Yours

newcobratickets1011The Piedmont Technical College Foundation is providing the opportunity for one lucky person to drive off in a 1965 Cobra Replica.

The Foundation is offering up to 500 tickets for a $100 donation per ticket for the purpose of a drawing to select one winner to win the second student-built Cobra.

Piedmont Tech Hosts SCADA Tour

scadatour21011Piedmont Technical College recently played host to the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association (SCADA) automotive field studies tour for educators. The purpose of the tour was to expose students, career specialists, counselors, career center instructors and teachers to the inner workings of the automobile industry.

Tau Alpha Pi Inducts New Members

Tau Alpha Pi is the national honor society for engineering technology, just as Phi Beta Kappa is for liberal arts and Tau Beta Pi is for engineering. From USC to PTC: Criminal Justice Program Welcomes New Coordinator

Spring VIP Opens at Piedmont Tech Following Record Fall

After a record-setting fall enrollment, officials at PTC are looking forward to a good turnout this spring as the VIP registration period draws near.

Registration for the spring term begins November 1 and runs through November 30. Students who register during this period become “VIPs” and receive their first choice of classes and a $25 registration fee waiver.

Piedmont Tech Receives Grant for Gunsmithing Program

nragrant1111Piedmont Technical College’s gunsmithing program has been awarded nearly $3000 in firearms from the National Rifle Association (NRA). The guns will be part of a new gun library.

The idea to obtain the grant came from Rick Sellars, a student in the program.
