REACH: A New Two Night, Two Year Degree Program in Laurens and Greenwood Counties

Piedmont Technical College has launched a new program called REACH, which is designed to help working adults fit a college education into their busy lives. The College is accepting applications for the program now, which will be offered at the Laurens County Higher Education Center, and on the Greenwood Campus. Classes begin in August.

According to the US Census Bureau, more than 50 percent of adults over the age of 25 in Laurens County, and 45 percent in Greenwood County have graduated from high school but lack a college degree.

Students Honored at Awards Ceremony

studentawards511At Piedmont Technical College’s 37th annual Student Awards and Recognition Program, president Dr. Ray Brooks applauded the achievements of more than 60 student leaders. The ceremony, which was held in the college’s James C. Self Conference Center, attracted students, faculty, staff, friends and family members.

Piedmont Technical College to Hold Commencement May 12

darrelljohnsonMore than 450 graduates of Piedmont Technical College will receive certificates, diplomas and associate degrees during spring commencement exercises on May 12.

Commencement exercises will begin at 7 p.m. at the Finis Horne Arena at Lander University, and graduates as well as guests are encouraged to arrive early. Once occupancy reaches capacity, additional guests will not be permitted to enter.

PTC Instructor Nominated for Governor’s Professor of the Year

Sandy Warner, department head for engineering technology at Piedmont Technical College, has been nominated for the 2013 Governor’s Professor of the Year Award.

“This is such an honor to be recognized for doing what I love,” said Warner.

PTC Offers $1500 REACH Scholarship

Piedmont Technical College will be hosting information sessions in Greenwood and Laurens Counties for the new REACH program during the week of May 16. The meetings are open to all those interested in learning more about this new two night a week, two year degree program.

Session attendees will be eligible for a $1500 REACH program scholarship.
