Donors Present Scholarships at Annual Luncheon

Piedmont Technical College recently held its annual Scholarship luncheon. The following recipients were among those honored:

Piedmont Tech to Provide Scholarships through Grant

Piedmont Technical College has been awarded nearly $600,000 as part of a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The grant, awarded through the NSF program Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM), will fund 130 scholarship awards over the next four years in an effort to increase recruitment and retention.

Welding Instructors Receive Specialized Training

weldingtraining611Instructors in the welding program at Piedmont Technical College recently traveled to Cleveland to receive specialized training on the program’s Lincoln Robotic Welding Education Cell trainer.

Latimer Works to Meet the Needs of Students

tanishalatimer611If Tanisha Latimer could be a professional student, that would be her job. But, she’s doing the next best thing as registrar at Piedmont Technical College.

“I love working in higher education,” she said. “I love to see the students come in, unsure of what they’re doing, and see them develop.”

PTC Respiratory Care Program Offers Service to Area Children

camppowerpuffers711For a kid, it’s hard to play when it’s hard to breathe. But the respiratory care students at Piedmont Technical College are working to make it a little bit easier.

Piedmont Tech Gunsmithing Class Fundraiser a Success

gunsmithingwinner711The gunsmithing class at Piedmont Technical College recently held a fundraising drawing to help the program. The prize for the drawing was a Lyman .50 caliber rifle, “Great Plains” model with Iron sights and all the necessary accessories. The winner of the rifle was Paulette Ross, right, pictured with program coordinator Bob Koster.

PTC Business Instructor Daulton Presented Lifetime Achievement Award

judydaulton711Judy Daulton, a business instructor at Piedmont Technical College, has been selected to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in Accounting Education an honor which is presented by the Two-Year Section of the American Accounting Association (AAA).

President's, Dean's & Merit Lists Announced

Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2011 spring semester have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full-time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

PTC’s Engineering and Industrial Technology Camp Successful

engineeringindustrialcamp711Twenty rising 8th and 9th grade students recently participated in Piedmont Technical College’s ninth Engineering and Industrial Technology camp. Students were introduced to technology with hands-on activities, exploring science, engineering and industrial technology topics with activities in various technology fields, such as robotics, computer-aided drafting, mechatronics and electronics.
