New Board Members Named to PTC Foundation

The Piedmont Technical College Foundation has named several new board members for the coming year.

Engineering Technology Students Inducted into National Honor Society

Ten new members were recently inducted into the Tau Alpha Pi National Honor Society at Piedmont Technical College. Tau Alpha Pi is the national honor society for engineering technology, just as Phi Beta Kappa is for liberal arts and Tau Beta Pi is for engineering. Nursing Student Pursues Dream Following Military Service

Lanina Goode has traveled the world, but she has found her dream at home.

The Greenwood native chose to join the military in 2000, enlisting in the Army reserves. Following the attacks on 9/11, she found herself deployed to Kuwait. When she returned to the States in 2003, she started searching for her passion.

“I worked as a substitute teacher for a while,” Goode said. “Then I attended Lander University.”

Summer President's, Dean, Merit Lists Announced

Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2012 summer term have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

President’s List students include:

Abbeville County - Kevin W. Claussen, Stacy M. Mundy and Jessica G. Sutherland, all of Abbeville; Kylie M. Anderson and Ryan M. O’Shields, both of Calhoun Falls; and Josef Myshkovskiy of Due West.

New Division Created to Meet Student Needs

In order to better meet the needs of a growing student body, Piedmont Technical College has created a College Preparatory division.

“At PTC, student success has always been our primary concern,” said Lisa Martin, associate dean. “As our enrollment continues to grow at PTC, we have to look at new ways to deliver instruction to a very diverse population.”

New Presidential Ambassadors Named

Each year, Piedmont Technical College chooses some of its best and brightest to serve as Presidential Ambassadors. These students represent the college at campus functions, provide tours and speak about their experiences to potential students.

PTC Thanks Area Officials with BBQ

The Piedmont Technical College Area Commission recently hosted a barbecue dinner at Bermuda’s at The Links at Stoney Point, for local, state and federal legislators to raise awareness of PTC’s vital role in the work force development of South Carolina’s Lakelands region. The event was attended by more than 130 people, including legislative officials, the Piedmont Technical College Area Commission and members of the PTC faculty and staff.

PTC Students Travel to State House for Lottery Assistance

PTC Student Earns College Degree and High School Diploma Simultaneously

abbecannon111Abbe Cannon looks like your typical teenager. She has the typical friends that she hangs out with each day. She will graduate in the spring from Emerald High School. She doesn’t seem to be extraordinary.

Until you realize she will also be a 2011 graduate of Piedmont Technical College.
