PTC Respiratory Care Program Offers Service to Area Children

Piedmont Tech Gunsmithing Class Fundraiser a Success

gunsmithingwinner711The gunsmithing class at Piedmont Technical College recently held a fundraising drawing to help the program. The prize for the drawing was a Lyman .50 caliber rifle, “Great Plains” model with Iron sights and all the necessary accessories. The winner of the rifle was Paulette Ross, right, pictured with program coordinator Bob Koster.

PTC Business Instructor Daulton Presented Lifetime Achievement Award

judydaulton711Judy Daulton, a business instructor at Piedmont Technical College, has been selected to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in Accounting Education an honor which is presented by the Two-Year Section of the American Accounting Association (AAA).

President's, Dean's & Merit Lists Announced

Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2011 spring semester have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full-time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

PTC’s Engineering and Industrial Technology Camp Successful

engineeringindustrialcamp711Twenty rising 8th and 9th grade students recently participated in Piedmont Technical College’s ninth Engineering and Industrial Technology camp. Students were introduced to technology with hands-on activities, exploring science, engineering and industrial technology topics with activities in various technology fields, such as robotics, computer-aided drafting, mechatronics and electronics.

Piedmont Tech Instructor Presents at International Conference

karlagilliamd2l711Karla Gilliam has stepped to the forefront of education with a new innovative use of the ePortfolio tool in Piedmont Technical College’s Desire2Learn (D2L) web-based platform for online learning. She recently presented on using the ePortfolio at the international D2L Fusion Users conference in Denver, a presentation that caught the attention of many of the participants including the CEO of D2L.

Piedmont Technical College to Hold Commencement August 4

Piedmont Technical College will be holding two summer commencement exercises on August 4.

Commencement exercises will begin at 3 p.m. for agriculture education transfer, Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, horticulture, business and information technology, public service, industrial and engineering technology graduates. A 7 p.m. ceremony will be held for health science and nursing graduates. Both commencement exercises will be held in the Multipurpose building at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood.

Senior Nursing Project Assists Local Camp

seniornursingepworth811The nursing program at Piedmont Technical College is working to prepare not only great nurses, but great leaders.

“Volunteering and community service are a big part of the nursing field,” said Tara Harris, interim department head for nursing at PTC. “It also helps to create leaders.”

Piedmont Technical College Honors Summer Graduates

graduation811The Multipurpose building at Piedmont Technical College was the setting for the finale of hours of study for more than 350 Piedmont Technical College graduates who took center stage in two commencement ceremonies.

Dr. Ray Brooks, president, welcomed graduates, family and guests to what he called “milestones in the lives of these students.”

At Piedmont Technical College’s recent summer commencement exercises, outstanding students from each of the college’s seven supporting counties were honored for academic achievement.
