Piedmont Technical College Offers Welding Certificate at Clinton High

Piedmont Technical College and Laurens District 56 have formed a partnership to offer the PTC journeyman welding certificate program to students at Clinton High School.

“This will be a great opportunity for the students in Clinton,” said Amanda Richardson, dual enrollment counselor at PTC. “We are excited about the partnership and being able to expand on these opportunities in the future.”

Phi Theta Kappa Inducts New Members

New members were recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Piedmont Technical College. Phi Theta Kappa was established in 1918 to honor two-year college students and boasts more than 1,200 chapters today. The Carolinas region includes 75 active chapters in the two-state area. Piedmont Tech’s Omega Chi chapter became the first among South Carolina’s technical colleges in 1974.

Nursing Graduates Recognized at Pinning Ceremony

Recent graduates of Piedmont Technical College’s associate degree nursing program at the Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood were recognized in a pinning ceremony in May. 



PRTC Team Takes Industry Cup Victory

A team of four representing Piedmont Rural Telephone Company captured the 19th Industry Cup at the 21st annual Piedmont Technical College Foundation Golf Classic. Fran Wiley, executive director of the Piedmont Technical College Foundation and tournament coordinator, right, presented the trophy to the winning foursome. Beating out more than 14 other teams, the winners were, from left to right, Robert E. Byrd, Randy Odom, Corey Crowley and James Gambrell.

Piedmont Tech to Offer New Precision Metrology Certificate

Piedmont Technical College is taking the lead once again. Beginning in the fall of 2013, the college will be offering a precision metrology certificate at the new Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) in Laurens.

The certificate will be the only training curriculum of its kind in South Carolina.

Outstanding Students Honored at Piedmont Technical College Graduation

At Piedmont Technical College’s recent spring commencement exercises, outstanding students from each of the college’s seven supporting counties were honored for academic achievement. 


Summer Camps Provide Options for All Ages

Young people looking for something different, fun and exciting to do this summer will find several options available on Piedmont Technical College’s Greenwood campus. Two special career-oriented camps in automotive and engineering technology will be offered as well as a variety of interest-based camps.

Piedmont Technical College Recognizes Graduates

The James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College was the setting for the culmination of many dreams for the more than 300 Piedmont Technical College graduates who took center stage in two commencement ceremonies.

Dr. Ray Brooks, president, welcomed graduates, family and guests to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates.
