Area Practical Nursing Students Honored

Recent graduates of Piedmont Technical College’s practical nursing program at the Lex Walters-Greenwood campus were recognized in a pinning ceremony in August.

At Piedmont Technical College’s recent summer commencement exercises, outstanding students from each of the college’s seven supporting counties were honored for academic achievement.

Bagwell Named VP for Academic Affairs at PTC

Piedmont Technical College President Dr. Ray Brooks has announced that Dr. Jack Bagwell has joined the college as the vice president for academic affairs.

Bagwell is a graduate of Winthrop University, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology. He earned his doctorate in educational studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2010.

PTC Center for Advanced Manufacturing Hosts Statewide Training

Mechatronics Training Piedmont Technical College’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) in Laurens recently showcased its new mechatronics lab by hosting training for mechatronics instructors from across the state.

Center for Advanced Manufacturing Wins National Award

Piedmont Technical College’s Continuing Education and Economic Development division recently won the 2014 National Exemplary Program Award from the National Council for Continuing Education & Training (NCCET) for its work at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) in Laurens County.

The honor will be presented during the NCCET’s annual awards ceremony in Denver in September. The award recognizes impact on need, innovation, sustainability and replicability.

Dual Enrollment Student Gets a Head Start on a Career

The loss of a high school course turned into a great opportunity for one Laurens District High School graduate.

As a freshman, Braxton Michels was interested in the machine tool class offered at LDHS. However, when the teacher left to pursue other opportunities, the course was discontinued. But, Michels knew he wanted to enroll in some form of industrial or manufacturing curriculum.

PTC Benefits from Charity Golf Tournament

Greenwood County Community Foundation DonationPiedmont Technical College recently received a generous donation as part of the funds raised through the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Charity Classic. The $40,000 presented to the Foundation was a portion of the $250,000 raised from the tournament to help nonprofit organizations in the seven-county area who provide services for women.

Welding Program Expands to CAM in Laurens County

Piedmont Technical College’s welding program is expanding to the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) in Laurens County for the fall.
