Clinton High Students Complete PTC Journeyman Welder Certificate

Clinton Welding ClassThe partnership between Piedmont Technical College and Laurens District 56 has again produced graduates from the PTC journeyman welding certificate program at Clinton High School.

 “This was a great opportunity for the students in Clinton,” said Amanda Richardson, director of dual enrollment at PTC. “We are excited about the success of the partnership.”

Academic Honor Students Recognized for 2014 Spring Semester

Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2014 spring semester have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

Plus 50 Workshops Offered at Piedmont Technical College Campuses

Piedmont Technical College was recently chosen to join the Plus 50 Encore Completion Program, a national effort to train 10,000 baby boomers for new jobs in health care, education and social services. The program is sponsored by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).

The college will be offering informational workshops to help baby boomers chart their next steps including enrolling in one of the 13 health science and nursing programs available at Piedmont Tech.

Senior Nursing Project Provides Health Fair

Piedmont Technical College's spring 2014 senior associate degree nursing (ADN) class recently sponsored a health fair to benefit the students and faculty at Ninety Six Elementary School. The project is part of the Nursing Management and Leadership course for ADN students.

“Volunteering and community service are a big part of the nursing field,” said Tara Harris, dean of nursing at PTC. “It also helps to create leaders.”

Piedmont Tech to Provide Scholarships to GED Graduates

Piedmont Technical College is partnering with the directors of Adult Education and Lifelong Learning in all seven counties of its service area to offer a new GED Scholarship to recent GED graduates.

Beginning in fall 2014, GED graduates enrolling full time in a certificate or diploma program will receive a $250 scholarship. Graduates enrolling in an associate degree program will receive $500 over two years.

For students enrolling part time, the scholarships will be pro-rated based on the number of credit hours taken.
