More than 250 Piedmont Technical College students and alumni recently took advantage of the college’s 30th annual employers’ day. Representatives from over 30 businesses, industries and service agencies were on hand to offer information about current and future job opportunities.
In the days leading up to the event, students had the chance to attend workshops to prepare them to meet and greet potential employees. Designed to help students learn how to make themselves marketable to potential employers, the workshops covered showcasing the best professional qualities through your resume and important interview tips.
Coordinated by PTC’s Student Success Center, the event is an opportunity for students to gain experience talking with employers in a more relaxed and informal setting. The event, in its 30th year, also provides an opportunity for businesses to meet with a wide variety of potential employees who are in the process of gaining skills vital to their organizations.
“While this is not an official job interview, we stress the importance of making a good first impression,” said David Rosenbaum, associate dean of Student Services. “We encourage students to dress professionally, bring resumes and be prepared to discuss their qualifications.”
