PTC College Transfer Fair Highlights Partnerships

More than 25 colleges and universities were in attendance recently at a College Transfer Fair sponsored by Piedmont Technical College. The fair was provided to give students information on special bridge programs and transfer pathways.

“I think knowledge is powerful and learning more about our transfer pathways can really help in making informed decisions about higher education choices,” said Lynn Mack, transfer coordinator. “Students interested in learning more about Piedmont Technical College and our special transfer programs with many universities are invited to attend.”

Over the past several years, PTC has worked to partner with colleges and universities all over South Carolina to sign special bridge and transfer agreements. Students can now start work toward a bachelor’s degree close to home at Piedmont Technical College and take all the coursework they need for the first two years of their degrees. Students in these programs save thousands on tuition, and move on to their destination schools knowing that their credits will transfer.

More than 140 students attended, speaking with representatives from such colleges and universities as Clemson University, The Citadel, Coastal Carolina University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Lander University, Presbyterian College, Southern Wesleyan University, University of South Carolina and Winthrop University.

Piedmont Technical College representatives and program advisors were also on hand to answer questions, and experts provided guidance on important areas of concern such as financial aid and scholarships.

“Piedmont Tech offers over 80 courses approved to transfer to any public university or college in South Carolina. We’ve also established specific transfer agreements with many of South Carolina’s major four-year institutions, and we’re actively working on more,” said Mack. “These transfer agreements include special bridge programs that allow students to get a taste of a four-year college while attending Piedmont Tech as well as special pathways into fields like electrical engineering, education and business.”
