Students Recognized for Scholarships
Scholarships were presented to students and donors were recognized at the recent scholarship luncheon.
Piedmont Technical College associate degree nursing student and Greenwood resident Lanina Goode, left, was recently awarded the Forty and 8 Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon, presented by Fred Malone. The unit, a support group of the American Legion that was established in 1920 by World War I veterans, annually funds a nursing scholarship.
Piedmont Technical College student and Kinards resident Tyler Tucker (left) recently received the Engineering Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Tucker, an electrical engineering technology student, is congratulated by Keith Lasure, dean of engineering and industrial technology.
Piedmont Technical College student and Batesburg resident Whitney Pough (right) received the Alfred and Miriam Adams Endowed Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pough, a pre-nursing student, is pictured with Paige Childs, vice president for business and finance. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Saluda County resident.

Piedmont Technical College student and Clinton resident Antysha Simpson (left) was recently awarded the Aaron Industries PTC Golf Classic Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Simpson, a human services student, is pictured with Jean Burbage, executive assistant at Aaron Industries, Inc. The scholarship is funded through an annual golf tournament held each spring and selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.
Piedmont Technical College student and Hodges resident Haleigh Harrison recently received the Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Center Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Harrison, a surgical technology student, is congratulated by Jerry Alewine, dean of health science. The scholarship is awarded annually to surgical technology students or nursing students who are program ready or near program ready, exhibiting academic achievement and financial need.
Two Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Charles Baumeister Memorial Scholarship. Pictured are, from left, Holly Leonard, an associate degree nursing student from Abbeville; presenter Sally Baumeister; and Scott McCravy, an ADN student from Greenwood. The scholarship, which is awarded to a student with a 3.0 grade point average, was established in memory of Charles Baumeister, a long-time faculty member of the college who served as dean of the Business and Industrial Divisions and vice president for Educational Affairs.
Piedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Debbie Lyshoj (left) was recently awarded the David Newstead Scholars Scholarship at the college’s annual luncheon. Lyshoj, a respiratory care student, is congratulated by Becky McIntosh, vice president of student development. This scholarship is presented to a former Upward Bound student from a single parent family who demonstrates financial need.
