Students Thank Donors at Annual Scholarship Luncheon

Scholarships were presented to students and donors were recognized at the recent scholarship luncheon.

 

Butler Derrick ScholarshipFive Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Butler Derrick Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. The scholarship, named for Congressman Butler Derrick, is awarded annually to associate degree students in high academic standing. 

 

 

Casandra Laster ScholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Tabatha Malone (second from left) received the Casandra Cae Laster Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. The scholarship was established in Laster’s memory for students enrolled in the commercial arts program and is based on academic achievement. 

 

 

 

Strom Thurmond ScholarshipFive Piedmont Technical College students were recently awarded the Strom Thurmond Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left Stacy McCier, Capsugel representative; Anne-Miller Bright, an associate degree nursing student from Greenwood; Susan Harrison Wienshienk, an Associate in Arts student from Chappells; Kristy Stadalsky, a veterinary technology student from Campobello; Debbie Walling, Capsugel representative; Dami Elliott, an ADN student from Abbeville; and Malaurie Hullings, an electrical engineering technology student from Plum Branch. The scholarship, which is named for Senator Strom Thurmond, is awarded annually to students who display leadership abilities and maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average. The scholarship is also based on academic achievement and financial need.

 

 

Fujifilm Golf Classic ScholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Amy Parsons (right) was recently awarded the Fujifilm PTC Golf Classic Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Parsons, an administrative office technology student, is congratulated by David Rosenbaum, scholarship committee member. The scholarship is funded through an annual golf tournament held each spring and selection is based on academic achievement and financial need. 

 

 

 

 

 

ECD ScholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Bradley resident Patricia Polattie recently received the Early Childhood Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Polattie, an ECD student, is congratulated by Andy Omundson, scholarship committee chairman. The scholarship is awarded to a student in the early childhood program. Selection is based on academic achievement, financial need and community involvement.  

 

 

 

 

 

Frank Wardlaw ScholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Wayne Judd (right) received the Frank Wardlaw Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Judd, a heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology student, is congratulated by David Kibler, interim dean of engineering and industrial technologies (left) and Susan Heath, Wardlaw’s daughter and scholarship donor. This scholarship is available to an HVAC student with preference given to a student from Troy or McCormick County. Second preference is given to an adult student returning due to a career change. 

 

 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology student and Greenwood resident Jerome Green recently received the J.E.S. Services HVAC Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student majoring in HVAC Technology who has completed 12 hours in the HVAC curriculum and maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
