Students looking to enroll in the Piedmont Technical College pharmacy technology program will notice changes in the enrollment process for the spring semester.
Pharmacy technicians assist licensed pharmacists by providing patients with medication and health care products. Under the supervision of the pharmacists, pharmacy technicians handles all of the technical skills in the pharmacy, from medication preparation and checking for interactions to filing insurance and inventory control. Pharmacy technicians work both in retail pharmacies and hospital settings.
West Carolina Tel recently made a donation of $15,000 to the Piedmont Technical College Foundation to assist with the new PTC Abbeville Campus. Pictured with the commemorative plaque naming the Learning Resource room in honor of the company are, from left, Dr.
Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2014 summer term have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.
President’s List includes:
Abbeville - Brennan D. Ferguson and Cassaundra D. Geer, both of Abbeville; and Wesley T. Hayslette of Donalds.
Thelma Woody has been named to represent Abbeville County on the Piedmont Technical College Area Commission. Members of the governing board are recommended by their legislative delegation and appointed by the governor for four-year terms. Woody replaces Emma Goodwin, who represented the county from 2002-2014.
Students at Piedmont Technical College were treated to a Fall Kick-off and Club Fair Recently. Organizations and clubs on campus presented information to students during the fall kick-off as well as provided a free hot dog lunch. The annual event welcomes students back to class and introduces them to the clubs and organizations available on campus.
Piedmont Technical College recently continued its tradition of excellence by receiving reaccreditation from the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for the Electronic Engineering Technology and Engineering Graphics Technology programs. These programs have been accredited since 1976 at Piedmont Technical College and are now accredited through September 2020.
In 2013, the 16 members of the SC Technical College System launched the South Carolina Manufacturing Certification (SCMC) to grow the skilled workforce in their regions. Now, Piedmont Technical College is leading the charge.
Piedmont Technical College recently signed an articulation agreement with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College that will allow students to complete two years of coursework at PTC, and transfer to the South Georgia college to complete their bachelor’s degree.
When Piedmont Technical College’s faculty and staff consider new program offerings, they look closely at the skills and training that will help students fill real employment needs in the region. The college’s latest offering is no exception.
PTC is now expanding access to in demand training through a new occupational therapy assistant program, which will be housed at the college’s state-of-the-art facility in Newberry.
Recent graduates of Piedmont Technical College’s associate degree nursing program at the Lex Walters-Greenwood campus were recognized in a pinning ceremony in August.
