Each year, Piedmont Technical College chooses some of its best and brightest to serve as Presidential Ambassadors. These students represent the college at campus functions, provide tours and speak about their experiences to potential students. This year’s select 10 are from a variety of backgrounds, representing many program areas and hometowns, but they all have one thing in common.
Piedmont Technical College’s funeral service education program is one of the fastest growing in the region. David Martin, program director, and Dedrick Gantt, funeral service education instructor, have been tireless in their efforts to improve and expand the department.
The Piedmont Technical College Area Commission recently hosted a barbecue dinner at Bermuda’s at The Links at Stoney Point, for local, state and federal legislators to raise awareness of PTC’s vital role in the workforce development of South Carolina’s Lakelands region.
Dr. Isabelle Beveridge followed an interesting path before arriving at Piedmont Technical College as the director of the new occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program. Fittingly, that path started at a two-year college.
Piedmont Technical College will kick off its One Book, One College series Oct. 9 with an introduction relating to this year’s spotlight book, Blessed Experiences: Genuinely Southern, Proudly Black by Rep. James Clyburn.
As a part of the college’s seventh annual One Book, One College series, the library will host weekly programs addressing the themes of Clyburn’s memoirs.
Students looking to enroll in the Piedmont Technical College pharmacy technology program will notice changes in the enrollment process for the spring semester.
Pharmacy technicians assist licensed pharmacists by providing patients with medication and health care products. Under the supervision of the pharmacists, pharmacy technicians handles all of the technical skills in the pharmacy, from medication preparation and checking for interactions to filing insurance and inventory control. Pharmacy technicians work both in retail pharmacies and hospital settings.
Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2014 summer term have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

Abbeville - Brennan D. Ferguson and Cassaundra D. Geer, both of Abbeville; and Wesley T. Hayslette of Donalds.
Piedmont Technical College recently continued its tradition of excellence by receiving reaccreditation from the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for the Electronic Engineering Technology and Engineering Graphics Technology programs. These programs have been accredited since 1976 at Piedmont Technical College and are now accredited through September 2020.
In 2013, the 16 members of the SC Technical College System launched the South Carolina Manufacturing Certification (SCMC) to grow the skilled workforce in their regions. Now, Piedmont Technical College is leading the charge.
Piedmont Technical College recently signed an articulation agreement with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College that will allow students to complete two years of coursework at PTC, and transfer to the South Georgia college to complete their bachelor’s degree.
