Piedmont Technical College will be holding two summer commencement exercises on August 7.
As the Class of 2014 celebrated their graduation from high school, 10 students from Ninety Six High School and McCormick High School were also earning an Associate in Arts degree from Piedmont Technical College. The students – five from Ninety Six and five from McCormick – were enrolled in the Piedmont Middle College.
Piedmont Technical College recently received a generous donation as part of the funds raised through the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Charity Classic. The $40,000 presented to the Foundation was a portion of the $250,000 raised from the tournament to help nonprofit organizations in the seven-county area who provide services for women.
Students looking to enroll in the Piedmont Technical College respiratory care program will notice changes for the fall semester. The curriculum has been revised to better accommodate the advances in the health care system and to streamline the path of students in the program.
Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2014 spring semester have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

Piedmont Technical College was recently chosen to join the Plus 50 Encore Completion Program, a national effort to train 10,000 baby boomers for new jobs in health care, education and social services. The program is sponsored by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
The college will be offering informational workshops to help baby boomers chart their next steps including enrolling in one of the 13 health science and nursing programs available at Piedmont Tech.
Scholarships were presented to students and donors were recognized at the recent scholarship luncheon.
Piedmont Technical College's spring 2014 senior associate degree nursing (ADN) class recently sponsored a health fair to benefit the students and faculty at Ninety Six Elementary School. The project is part of the Nursing Management and Leadership course for ADN students.
Piedmont Technical College is partnering with the directors of Adult Education and Lifelong Learning in all seven counties of its service area to offer a new GED Scholarship to recent GED graduates.
Beginning in fall 2014, GED graduates enrolling full time in a certificate or diploma program will receive a $250 scholarship. Graduates enrolling in an associate degree program will receive $500 over two years.
For students enrolling part time, the scholarships will be pro-rated based on the number of credit hours taken.
The James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College was the setting for the culmination of many dreams for the more than 200 Piedmont Technical College graduates who took center stage in two commencement ceremonies.
