Lander and Piedmont Tech Facilitate Transfer Process for Early Education Graduates

Most teachers consider their work a calling. Piedmont Technical College (PTC) and Lander University recently made a commitment to ease the budding educator’s journey by streamlining the transfer process for PTC students who graduate with an associate of applied science in early care and education to continue their career preparation by pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education at Lander. 

$1.6 Million Grant to Expand Career Outreach to High School Students

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) has received a $1.6 million grant from the SC Department of Education to serve objectives of federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) legislation, which established funding under the CARES Act to address the impact of COVID-19 on elementary and secondary schools across the nation. As a grant recipient, over three years, PTC will collaborate with area school districts to provide directed advisement and wraparound support services to high school students to help ensure success in their college dual enrollment journeys.

Academic Honor Students Recognized for 2021 Fall Term

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2021 fall semester have earned inclusion on the PRESIDENT’S LIST. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

Agreement Enhances Transfer of PTC RNs to Lander BSN Program

When shifts change at any health care facility, it’s essential to have an efficient handoff of information and responsibility between staff who are leaving and those coming in. An agreement signed recently by officials from Piedmont Technical College (PTC) and Lander University is designed to facilitate a smooth handoff of PTC Registered Nurse (RN)-licensed Associate Degree Nursing graduates who transfer into the Lander Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) Program.

The Charlie Foundation Donates Medical Manikins to PTC Foundation

The Charlie Foundation recently donated three high-tech, life-like medical manikins to equip the Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Saluda Campus. The bionic devices can be programmed to speak, to bleed, to be intubated, and more. It is the Saluda-based charity’s largest gift to date. 

PTC and Colette Tours Partner to Offer 2022 Travel Opportunities

Piedmont Technical College’s Continuing Education Division is partnering once again with Collette Tours to offer a fabulous lineup of travel opportunities in 2022. This year, planned trips include destinations in Colorado, New England, Texas, and Morocco.

Piedmont Tech Welcomes New Area Commissioner for Saluda County

At its Jan. 18, 2022, meeting, the Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Area Commission welcomed Dennis Lambries, Ph.D., as the college’s new area commissioner representing Saluda County. Dr. Lambries is an instructor of political science at Newberry College with ties to PTC dating back to his service on the Saluda County Council.

PTC to Launch Fire Science Certificate Program This Fall

Recent evidence suggests that there is genuine community interest in a profession where people voluntarily run — yes, run — into burning buildings. Interest has been so high, in fact, that Piedmont Technical College (PTC) will begin offering a Fire Science Program later this year.
