Learning Opportunities

 

For educators....

August 28, 2007 - April 15, 2008 - Facilitating Career Development training This course is designed to train K-16 educators and other professionals who offer career assistance and guidance services in Career Development Facilitation (CDF) by focusing on career development theory and model; student/client diversity; assessment; ethical and legal issues; labor market information and resources; employability skills, and use of technology. Instruction should lead to a better understanding of career development resources and assessments and an awareness of one’s professional strengths and needed improvements in the area of career guidance.

 

For students....

National Career Development Month Poetry and Poster contest - November is National Career Development month.  The National Career Development Association (NCDA) celebrates annually by holding a national poetry and poster contest for K-adult students. This year's theme is "Find Your Voice - Change Your World".  PEBA encourages its districts to participate in the contest.  For more information on how to enter, contact your school district's work-based learning coordinator or the alliance office.

Salute to Manufacturing Design Challenge
- The SC Design Challenge was developed to give students in grades 1-12 an opportunity to learn more about the various facets of manufacturing and engineering. The Silver Crescent Foundation sponsors the contest. PEBA encourages its districts to participate in the contest.  For more information on how to enter, contact your school district's work-based learning coordinator or the alliance office.


Groundhog Job Shadow Month - February is Groundhog Job Shadow Month.  Students have the opportunity to explore potential careers by shadowing an employer for the day.  Each of PEBA's school districts participate in job shadowing activities during the month of February and throughout the school year.  For more information on job shadowing activities in your school district, contact your district's work-based learning coordinator or the alliance office.
