Accounting and management are just a few of the many areas that a business major at Piedmont Tech will prepare you to pursue. Tabatha Malone

Sometimes, it just takes a little nudge to get you on the right path. Or, in Tabatha Malone’s case, a persistent shove.

Malone graduated from Emerald High School in 2000 and decided she wanted to take a break from school. She lived in Florida for a few years before returning to Greenwood. By 2006, she thought she was ready for college, so she enrolled in the accounting program at Piedmont Technical College. Her first semester was great, but her second was a struggle and made her realize that the program she had selected wasn’t for her. So, she took a break.

Faith Rayborn

When you look at Faith Rayborn, you immediately think pre-school teacher – not police officer. That drive has led her to become an officer with the Laurens County Sherriff’s Department working at the Laurens County Detention Center.

“I enjoy what I do,” she said. “I had never worked in this kind of environment before, but I enjoy the challenges.”

Rayborn found herself one of the many displaced workers when her job was outsourced overseas. She decided to take the opportunity to pursue a degree.
