Steps for Preparing for the Transfer Process
 
Students should be advised to follow a series of steps when preparing for transfer to a four-year college or university. These include:
  • Talk with a Piedmont Technical College academic advisor about transfer opportunities and pathways/articulation agreements.

  • Select an academic major.
     
  • Select a senior (four-year) college(s).
     
  • Speak with Piedmont Technical College transfer coordinator and contact the transfer admissions staff at the college(s) being considered.
     
  • Visit selected senior college campus(es).
  • Request application materials from each school’s office of admissions.
     
  • Request financial aid materials from each school’s financial aid office.
  • If required, take the SAT or ACT.
     
  • Submit application(s) for admission and all other requested documents by the specified deadlines.
     
  • Submit appropriate application for financial aid consideration.  Note: Piedmont Technical College’s financial aid office can assist you with this process.
     
  • Have an official transcript sent from Piedmont Technical College’s student records’ office -- a signed release form is required for this process. Note: An official transcript should be sent when you apply and another transcript sent when you complete your course/degree work at Piedmont. 
     
  • Submit the required admission deposit.
     
  • Submit housing deposit if needed.
     
  • Arrange off-campus housing if needed.
     
  • Attend campus orientation program(s).
