During each of your two years in the honors program, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your horizons through travel experiences and service learning projects.
You’ll have an impact on someone’s life, work to make a difference in a community and gain new perspective on your own culture during a service learning project in the United States and abroad.
Example activities include building homes for disadvantaged families; visiting local schools; community development; teaching sports, languages and computing; wildlife conservation; sustainable farming and eco tourism; and collaborating with an animal rescue center.
As an Honors Program student, you’ll learn about and make a positive contribution to your world.
In spring 2015, students had an opportunity to travel to Costa Rica on a Sun and Service Tour. A new destination will be chosen for spring 2016.
Because PTC is committed to improving the quality of life for everyone in our region, we’re strong believers in community service. As an honors student at PTC, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of local organizations committed to making a difference in a range of service areas—from health care, to education, the arts and beyond.
You’ll also make invaluable connections with local leaders through a mentoring and leadership program that will give you real-world insight into what makes a strong community, how important decisions get made, and how organizations collaborate to keep the economy healthy and deliver important services to citizens.
