Certification and Agreement of CARES Act Funds
Piedmont Technical College (PTC) will be providing emergency grant assistance to students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. PTC signed and returned the Certification and Agreement document to the U.S. Department of Education on April 14, 2020. Within this agreement, Piedmont Technical College has agreed to spend no less than 50 percent of the total funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act on direct emergency grant aid to students.
Total Funds Received
Piedmont Technical College has received $1,716,979 in total funds pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
Amount of Grants Awarded
The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants awarded to students at PTC under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of May 19, 2020 is $1,596,390 .
The estimated total number of students at Piedmont Technical College eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 3,276.

Piedmont Technical College has awarded 3,276 students grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Disbursement Allocation and Plan
Eligibility: Per the Department of Education’s guidance, students must meet Title IV eligibility criteria to benefit from CARES Act Emergency Grants. PTC has determined that students are required to have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file to verify their Title IV eligibility. Students without a FAFSA on file but are Title IV eligible are encouraged to file a FAFSA.
All Title IV eligible students who were enrolled at the time that PTC converted to online classes for Spring, 2020 have been deemed eligible for a base award. Pell recipients have been awarded $555 and all other students have been awarded $325.
Additionally, PTC has opened an online application process for students to apply for additional CARES act funding. A full review of applicants and their reported expenses will be conducted upon receipt of each application. The reported expenses and known economic need will determine the amount of funds each student receives.
Base Awards were posted and distributed directly to students via direct deposit or paper check on April 20, 2020.
