Role Summary/Purpose:

In this role, the Biomedical Technician Apprentice will respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, perform repair and planned maintenance (PM) on basic biomedical equipment and drive customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.

 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

Basic Qualifications:

• Current student or recent graduate of no more than 6 months from an A.S., B.S. or M.S. Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging Technology or Mechanical Principles degree program or equivalent DOD military education.
• Must maintain a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale
• Previous exposure to troubleshooting equipment and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment following current standards, code and procedures to ensure safe and effective operation of those devices.
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of past employment, criminal history and education.
• Willing to take a drug test.

Desired Characteristics:

Essential Responsibilities: 

• Under supervision, evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs; as assigned, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, environmental inspections and maintain effective customer relations. Follow appropriate GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol and complete necessary documentation, as guided.
• Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction. As instructed, implement GE/customer facility contract, supporting business goals and objectives.
• May assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolution. Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area.
• Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory. Manage vendor's service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies, as instructed.
• Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment formal instruction.

  5. Uses various power hand tools to build components to specific tolerances, torques and other specifications.Uses other tools such as hammers, files, deburr tools, wrenches, power/air tools, in repair process as required.

  6. Under little supervision, with detailed instructions and guidance, will provide assistance with new work, variations, and operating efficiencies.

  7. Ensure all equipment and the work areas are cleaned daily and free of safety hazards.

Physical Demands:

We seek experienced electro-mechanical field service technicians to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on banking equipment including ATM's, alarm systems, CCTV's, pneumatic drive-ups, VATS, vaults and deposit boxes.

This post is available in multiple cities and states throughout the south, including Greenville and Columbia.

Responsibilities include: Prioritizing and completing all service calls and preventive maintenance daily; Communicating service schedules and outcomes with customers in a timely manner;
Escalating issues and reassigning service calls as needed; Reporting service resolutions clearly and timely; Organizing and updating technical documentation and best practices regularly;
Maintaining a high-level of industry knowledge through training and certifications.

Position Description:

  • Experience with the diagnostics, repair, maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and electrical control systems. 

  • Experience troubleshooting all electrical, instrumental and process malfunctions, including mechanical power transmission equipment and hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Experience diagnosing, repairing and overhauling automatic control valves, sensors, positioners, actuators, electrical AC/DC systems and related systems.

  • Demonstrated NFPA70E knowledge and compliance

  • Ability to utilize a computer for record keeping and documentation

  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekend, on-call, rotating shifts and holidays

  • Ability to comprehend and follow complex directions in oral, written or electronic formats

  • Ability to succeed in a team-based, high performance work environment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation

  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders and in confined spaces

  • Operate or work in and environment where walking, standing, crouching, lifting, twisting, climbing and reaching are required to complete essential job functions.
