Outstanding Students Honored at PTC Graduation

At Piedmont Technical College’s recent fall commencement exercises, outstanding students from each of the college’s seven supporting counties were honored for academic achievement. 

 

Piedmont Technical College Recognizes Fall Graduates

The James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College was the setting for the culmination of many dreams for the nearly 250 Piedmont Technical College graduates who took center stage.

Dr. Ray Brooks, president, welcomed graduates, family and guests to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates.

Practical Nursing Students Honored at Pinning Ceremony

Recent graduates of Piedmont Technical College’s practical nursing program at the Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood were recognized in a pinning ceremony in December. 

 

Piedmont Technical College Launching New Job Readiness Program

Starting in January, Piedmont Technical College is launching a new program titled “Ready to Work” that is designed to help individuals overcome challenges that may prevent them from finding jobs. The program will provide training for well paid, highly skilled careers in manufacturing.

“We are very excited about this new program,” said Rusty Denning, Associate VP for Economic Development and Continuing Education. “We hope it will help members of our community get back to work and fill the workforce needs of area employers.”

Brooks to stay on as Piedmont Tech President

Dr. Ray Brooks, president of Piedmont Technical College, has announced that he will postpone his retirement plans as he continues work on several key initiatives involving the college.

One of these initiatives—a project that has been in the planning stages for some time—is the college’s new Upstate Center for Manufacturing Excellence which was made possible when the citizens of Greenwood County voted to pass the Capital Project Sales Tax ballot measure by a large margin in November. 

Piedmont Tech Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Scholarship

Piedmont Tech has been celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. To commemorate this milestone, the college is working to endow a 50th Anniversary Scholarship.

Piedmont Tech Welcomes New Class of Presidential Ambassadors

Each year, Piedmont Technical College chooses some of its best and brightest to serve as Presidential Ambassadors. These students represent the college at campus functions, provide tours and speak about their experiences to potential students. This year’s select 13 are from a variety of backgrounds, representing many program areas and hometowns, but they all have one thing in common. They all echo a common message of gratitude for the impact Piedmont Tech has had on their lives, both personally and academically.

Piedmont Technical College to Hold Commencement December 13

Piedmont Technical College will be holding fall commencement exercises on Tuesday, Dec. 13. 

Commencement exercises will begin at 3 p.m. in the James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood. 

Due to limited seating, tickets will be required for all guests attending the graduation ceremony. Each ticketholder, including children, will be entitled to one seat.

In recognition of Piedmont Technical College’s 50th anniversary, the commencement address will be presented by Dr. Jeremy Lord.

Benefactors and Community Leaders Honored by PTC Foundation

Benefactors and community leaders joined together at Piedmont Technical College recently to celebrate and toast the successes of the past year with the annual benefactors’ event.

Dr. Ray Brooks, president of PTC, welcomed those in attendance. The event was to honor Cornerstone Society members and benefactors who had contributed to the growth and success of the college.

Academic Honor Students Recognized for 2016 Summer Term

Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2016 summer term have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

President’s List students:
