Piedmont Technical College president Dr. Ray Brooks, back right, honored six college associates and community leaders with the Presidential Medallion, the institution’s most prestigious award, at PTC’s recent commencement exercises. Pictured with Brooks accepting the Presidential Medallions were, front from left, state Sen. Floyd Nicholson; Lisa Martin, dean of College Preparatory and Transitional Studies; and Terry Ledford, chief of Public Safety. Back, Richard Cain, Area Commission Laurens County; Thornwell Dunlap III, PTC Foundation Board member; Steve Coleman, director of Project Genesis; and Brooks. Instituted in 1991 during the college’s silver anniversary celebration, the medallions recognize individuals who have made significant contributions toward excellence in education.
