Scholarships Presented at Recent Luncheon

Scholarships were presented to students and donors were recognized at the recent scholarship luncheon.

 

Ernest Prewett ScholarshipThree Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Ernest W. Prewett Alumni Association Scholarship Award. Pictured are, from left, Susan Graham, a veterinary technology student from Langley, and Ernest Prewett, former executive assistant to the president at PTC. Not pictured are Ryan Chavis, a heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology student from Abbeville; and Lauren Hundley, a funeral service education student from Columbia. Established by the Piedmont Technical College Alumni Association, this scholarship is based on academic achievement and need.

 

 

Charles Baumeister ScholarshipTwo Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Charles Baumeister Memorial Scholarship. Pictured are, from left, Rodnisha Howzell, an accounting student from Bradley; presenter Sally Baumeister; and Jessica Weathers, a cardiovascular technology student from Ware Shoals. Not pictured is DeAnna Parker, an associate degree nursing student from Whitmire. The scholarship, which is awarded to a student with a 3.0 grade point average, was established in memory of Charles Baumeister, a long-time faculty member of the college who served as dean of the Business and Industrial Divisions and vice president for Educational Affairs.

 

 

Taylor Foundation ScholarshipThree Piedmont Technical College students were recently awarded the Taylor Foundation Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Tyler Grubbs, an occupational therapy assistant student from Prosperity; Gus Burgdorf, PTC Foundation development associate; and Siobhan Little, a cardiovascular technology student from Newberry. Not pictured is Andrea Peay, a computer technology student from Newberry. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Newberry County resident and is based on academic achievement and financial need.

 

 

Lena Wood Warren ScholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Abbeville resident Dami Elliott was recently awarded the Lena Wood Warren Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Elliott (left), an associated degree nursing student, is congratulated by Lena Wood Warren. This scholarship is available to a PN or ADN nursing student who has completed at least one semester in the nursing program. The recipient has a 3.0 GPA or above, has an outstanding clinical performance as determined by clinical instructor, shows financial need and demonstrates leadership abilities.

 

 

Butler Derrick ScholarshipFour Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Butler Derrick Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. The scholarship, named for Congressman Butler Derrick, is awarded annually to associate degree students in high academic standing. 

 

 

Manning Family ScholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Abbeville resident Rebecca Weaver (center) was recently awarded the Manning Family Scholarship. Weaver, an associate degree nursing student, is congratulated by Sharon Manning (left) and Peter Manning (right). The Peter and Sharon Manning family established this endowment in 2014. The scholarship is available to a first time, first generation student or a first generation student returning to college after 5 years out of school or college or a first generation student returning to college after a layoff. 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College computer technology student and Greenwood resident Saif Momin recently received the Saluda Market Consignments Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a student that does not qualify for State or Federal assistance and demonstrates leadership skills, academic achievement and financial need.

 

Two Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Paul DeLoache Scholarship. They are Anna Shealy, a business management student from Batesburg, and Nicole Wertz, an associate degree nursing student from Saluda. The scholarship is awarded annually to Saluda residents and is based on academic achievement and financial need.  

 

Piedmont Technical College HVAC student and McCormick resident Corey Wall recently received the Piedmont Technical College HVAC Technician Scholarship. Student must have completed 12 hours of core Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Technology courses and a minimum cumulative or program grade point average of 3.0.

 

Piedmont Technical College veterinary technology student and Gray Court resident Bethany Prescott was recently awarded the H. Kelley Jones Scholarship. Awarded annually, this scholarship is available to a student enrolled in the veterinary technology program approved by the AVMAs.  

 

Piedmont Technical College mechatronics technology student and Laurens resident Jason Pearson was recently awarded the Laurens County Water & Sewer Commission PTC Golf Classic Scholarship. The scholarship is funded through an annual golf tournament held each spring and selection is based on academic achievement and financial need. 

 

Piedmont Technical College occupational therapy assistant student and Lexington resident Anna Gillis recently received the Agape Senior Occupational Therapy Assistant Scholarship. Agape Senior has established a scholarship to assist a student majoring in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Criteria includes academic achievement and financial need. Preference is given to Agape Senior employees.
