Emergency Closing Notification Procedures

“Emergency closing” refers to any event, weather or otherwise, that would require the College to close. The decision to close is made by the College President or designated representative.

The College will make the emergency closing decision independent of other schools and agencies. However, the College is required to follow statewide schedule changes made by the Governor.

Things to remember:

  • The College will make every effort to publish announcements by 6:00 AM, or as soon as possible if the college day is already underway.
  • If information has not been posted, we are operating on a regular schedule.
  • Do not assume that if the public schools are closed the College will also be closed.
  • When a public school is closed, all dual enrollment Piedmont Technical College classes held at that public school location are canceled.
  • Please note: Due to time constraints, the College will not respond to individual comments and questions regarding delay and closing status.

In the case of inclement weather, regardless of the College remaining open, all students and employees should use good judgment as to whether or not it is safe to travel. The College will make every attempt to accommodate students who experience legitimate difficulties getting to campus due to inclement weather.
