Serving Students in Newberry

Located on Wilson Road in the old National Guard Armory, the recently remodeled Newberry County Center now encompasses 30,340 square feet, consisting of classrooms, computer and biology labs, as well as office space - all to serve the citizens of the county. A 150 seat auditorium, which is available to business, industry and the public sector in the county, completes the center.

First opened in 1996, the center has grown dramatically and now counts over 500 credit students in attendance. Offering both credit courses and non-credit continuing education classes, the Center provides students with access to most student services including financial aid, placement testing, career counseling, registration and library services. Students may also pay fees and buy books at the Center.

In May 2008 the SC Commission on Higher Education granted Piedmont Technical College permission to offer a five semester Veterinary Technology Associate Degree curriculum.  Students in good academic standing in the Veterinary Technology certificate program have the opportunity to pursue the associate degree by completing two additional semesters.  The College is actively pursuing national accreditation by the AVMA.  Accreditation is the voluntary process by which educational institutions are evaluated to quality based on conformity with established standards.  Students who graduate from an accredited academic program are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) to become a credentialed Veterinary Technician.
