Piedmont Technical College is seeking to fill the position of Physical Plant Director. The position is responsible for the direction and management of administrative and business management activities in the area of physical plant operations, public safety, supply, vehicle and construction management. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology and two (2) years journey-level engineering work experience. A master’s degree in engineering and entry-level engineering work experience may be substituted for the required experience. Degree and work experience in architecture also accepted. A current/valid driver's license is required. Knowledge of state construction procurement and state regulations, policies, procedures and codes are necessary. Knowledge and experience with agencies such as DHEC, OSHA and EPA are a plus. Prefer strong experience in South Carolina Procurement Code and Regulations and project management. The ability to plan, organize and direct the administrative/departmental units are critical. Additionally, the successful applicant must be able to maintain harmonious relationships with all college units as well as state, county, and local entities. The position requires a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of all 7 campuses located in the PTC service area, and the applicant must be able to travel for required meetings, training and job assignments. Piedmont Technical College invites applications for the position of a full-time “Gunsmith Program Director”. The successful candidate will coordinate all gunsmith courses and programs, teach and advise students, plan and develop courses, market the programs, provide community and college service, and attend professional development classes. The college is a public two-year college dedicated to successful student learning by providing multiple learning options. This full-time position begins in July, 2013. Preference will be given to candidates based upon the following selection criteria:
1. Relevant work experience and expertise in the Gunsmith field.
2. Must have a CWP or SLED clearance
3. Teaching experience, especially at the technical college level.
4. Leadership, planning, and scheduling skills are critical to the position.
5. Commitment to utilize new Gunsmith Technology, develop new learning styles, and other innovative approaches to classroom instruction and curriculum design.
6. Commitment to the educational philosophy of the two-year technical/community college.
7. Willingness to work with a flexible teaching/marketing schedule (i.e., day, evening, weekend) and at varied sites (i.e., on-campus, off campus).
8. Commitment to interact with students outside the classroom setting.

Piedmont Technical College is seeking a qualified and experienced person to fill an Instructional Designer and Technologist position. This position reports to the Dean of Instructional Development. The successful candidate will work with faculty on the design, development and writing of instructional content that will be used in blended/hybrid and online courses; design quality instructional modules that incorporate the principles of best practices with curriculum and instructional design, including Universal Design in Learning (UDL) criteria, open source courseware specifications and adherence to current copyright laws. Duties may include but are not limited to:
1.Work with subject matter experts to compose and produce instructional modules that meet the needs of diverse learners (adhere to UDL guidelines).
2.Produce online/hybrid learning modules that meet quality standards for instructional design and for open learning on the web.
3.Produce instructional material that adheres to current copyright laws for the web.
4.Identify and apply the appropriate blend of pedagogy and technology into the course design, guide the selection and development of instructional strategies for online and hybrid environments and recommends appropriate learning tools and engaging activities to achieve course objectives.
5.Consults with faculty on the effective use of multimedia (graphics, animations, audio, video etc.) and emerging instructional technologies (blogs, wikis, RSS, digital storytelling, web conferencing, social networks, mobile learning etc.) to enhance learning.
6.Review and edit faculty-developed content so that it is grammatically correct and reflects best practices in instructional design, including UDL.
7.Assist with the uploading of course modules/materials into the college’s LMS and other open source sites, as needed.
8.Assist with grant projects that include course development and design.
Master's degree in education or a directly related field (instructional technology, instructional design) and two (2) years’ experience in curriculum management or development required. Must have experience with online course development. Other skills needed: excellent writing and editing skills, knowledge of Open Learning (Creative Commons, CAST/UDL, Open Resources), current copyright laws for online courses, instructional design principles, online course development standards and procedures, Universal Design in Learning Criteria, Open Source courseware such as the Carnegie Mellon online courses, educational applications of social media, educational theories, including instructional systems design, and adult learning theory, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills and excellent customer service skills. Piedmont Technical College invites applications for the position of Dean, Engineering and Industrial Technologies Division. The job functions of the dean include:
•Planning, directing, and administering comprehensive, student learning-centered instructional programs through the management of professionals engaged in the planning, development and delivery of quality instructional programs.
•Developing curriculum and/or continuing education programs, articulation and transfer opportunities, instructional support functions, and related areas.
•Responsibility for the development, tracking and management of budget and fiscal affairs related to areas of responsibility.
•Developing and implementing long-range operational and strategic plans for areas of responsibility.
•Responsibility for the enforcement of all federal, state and local laws as well as state, system and college policies and procedures. Responsible for developing and maintaining operational procedures to comply with such laws and regulations and adhering to all accreditation standards related to areas of responsibility.
•Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating department heads in division.
•Assists with teaching, recruiting, registering, advising and placing students.
Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline plus three (3) years of progressively responsible related work/teaching experience. Discipline may include: HVAC/Industrial Electronics, Metal Trades, Horticulture, Engineering Technology, Diversified Agriculture, Automotive Technology and/or Construction Trades. Preferred qualifications include: 10-15 years of progressive experience in Manufacturing Engineering or related manufacturing areas, excellent customer service skills, knowledge of and demonstrated Lean advocate, an earned doctorate, plus a master's degree in a related discipline, managerial experience with demonstrated leadership and management skills. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MRP, Fabrication, Machining and CAD related engineering systems would be helpful. Position will be open until filled.
