Cuong Nhu is a Vietnamese style martial art that was founded by Dr. Ngo Dong in 1965. It wasn’t until 1971 that the first dojo appeared in the US. Cuong Nhu literally translates to mean hard soft. It combines the elements of seven styles into one blended art of hard-style blocks and technique to soft-style flow and redirection. The seven styles of influence are Shotokan Karate, Judo, Boxing, Aikido, Wing Chun, Tai Chi Chuan, and Vovinam. Cuong Nhu incorporates all of these styles to create a blend of self-defense, hand techniques, leg techniques, katas, sparring, and grappling.
Cuong Nhu is a regulated style that has safety and proper training as the top priority. It is a style that can help with flexibility, balance, power, coordination, cardio, strength, and stamina. It is designed for ages seven and up. All experience levels are welcome.
