Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in civil or related engineering.
Requires four years experience in civil, environmental, and/or construction activities that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess or be able to obtain within 1 year a S.C. Professional Engineering certification.
Designs, prepares and reviews plans, specifications, drawings and contracts for County projects. Reviews plans, specifications and plats for development regarding Engineering Department issues.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the department heads and employees, subordinates, management and administration, developers, engineers, architects, contractors, regulatory personnel, attorneys, customers, consultants, and the general public.
Operates motor vehicles, and a variety of equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, advanced function calculators, GPS devices, samplers, measuring devices, and associated software programs, including spreadsheets, word processors, Autocad drafting programs, and other incidental programs.
Additional Duties:
Provides engineering guidance to other departments and divisions as required.
Performs administrative/office duties as required, including attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, and filing of documents.
Researches, collaborates with interest groups and other county staff, and the public as directed by the Engineer.
Prepares and presents items for consideration by the County Council or its committees.
