Wages/Salary: Hire Range: $48,000- $ 60,000 annually
A high school diploma and 2 years performing patrol or investigative duties with a public law enforcement agency. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required law enforcement experience. Necessary Special Requirements: Certification by the Department of Public Safety in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976. Must have be a graduate of the SC Criminal Justice Academy. Must have strong skills in providing excellent customer service and demonstrate strong ethics. A valid driver's license and safe driving history are required.
Under limited supervision, the crime prevention officer is responsible for conducting routine
investigations of crimes or suspected criminal activity committed on or involving Lander University to
ensure enforcement of laws related to public safety and welfare. Responsible for coordinating the
departments crime prevention and community relations functions by checking special events/sporting events
calendars and working events when not conducting investigations. Responsible for coordinating the
departments criminal cases through preliminary hearings, indictments, and presentations for General
Sessions Court. Provide routine patrol to provide community oriented policing for the campus.
