Jobs at a Glance is a service for Piedmont Technical College students nearing graduation, alumni and the community that provides information about local and regional job opportunities. Some great postings have gone up this month in fields like engineering, law enforcement, human resources, health care, information technology and more.
Despite the slow recovery in the job market, there are some bright spots. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics list of the top 50 fastest-growing careers includes everything from biomedical engineers to tree trimmers.
Students, faculty and staff at Piedmont Technical College recently participated in an Open Mic Poetry Jam in celebration of Black History Month. Presenters included guest poet Kimbi “The Goddess” of Unifyed Sol Poets.
Evelyn Beck has been named Piedmont Technical College’s dean of Arts and Sciences. Beck replaces Donna Foster who was named associate vice president of institutional assessment and compliance in August.
ACT WorkKeys is a skills assessment that helps employers select and hire a skilled workforce. In short, it's a series of tests that measure foundational and soft skills. Through profiling the skills necessary for success in specific jobs, WorkKeys can also provide employers assistance with employee selection and development.
