Recent graduates of Piedmont Technical College’s practical nursing and associate degree nursing programs at the Greenwood campus were recognized in a pinning ceremony in August.
Two Piedmont Technical College respiratory care students were recently awarded scholarships presented by the South Carolina Society of Respiratory Care (SCSRC) and two more were recognized with an honorable mention.
Students at Piedmont Technical College were treated to a Fall Kick-off and Club Fair Wednesday. Organizations and clubs on campus provided information to students during the fall kick-off as well as provided a free hot dog lunch. The annual event welcomes students back to class and introduces them to the clubs and organizations available on campus.
Piedmont Technical College now provides public computer labs at all locations in all seven of the counties it serves. The labs are staffed by knowledgeable personnel who are available to help computer users. These labs are available through the $437,000 grant Piedmont Tech received with the SC Technical College System, as part of a grant for $5.9M by the US Department of Commerce – National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
The project for the new Piedmont Technical College Newberry County Center is one step closer to fruition. Piedmont Technical College recently received a grant award from the United States Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA). The $1.7 million award will assist with construction of the new facility.
“The EDA grant will allow us to provide a flexible industrial space for local businesses for training purposes,” said Jennifer Wilbanks, dean of County Centers.
After a record-setting fall enrollment, officials at PTC are looking forward to a good turnout this spring as the VIP registration period draws near.
Registration for the spring term begins November 1 and runs through November 30. Students who register during this period become “VIPs” and receive their first choice of classes and a $25 registration fee waiver.
Each year, Piedmont Technical College chooses some of its best and brightest to serve as Presidential Ambassadors. These students represent the college at campus functions, provide tours and speak about their experiences to potential students.
The Piedmont Technical College Foundation held its drawing for the 10 finalists for the 1965 student-built Cobra Replica Monday.

David Moody, who recently released his second novel, The Good Reverend, will be conducting two classes this fall –creative writing for beginners and beginner poetry.
