AI Literacy for Higher Ed Faculty and Staff Faculty and staff carry a workload AI can genuinely lighten, but only if it's used in a way that protects academic integrity and institutional standards. This four-week certificate is built around two things. First, how AI supports the actual work of teaching: course planning, materials, grading, advising, and the administrative load around them, without requiring faculty to rebuild what they already teach. Second, and just as important, how faculty model that use for students. Faculty are training the next generation of professionals in their field, and the expectations they set now around AI become a skill those students carry into their careers. You'll leave with a working AI system for your own workload and a clear, defensible set of expectations you can hand directly to students in your courses. Offered through Piedmont Technical College in partnership with EmpowerED AI Learning. Aligned with the U.S. Department of Labor AI Literacy Framework. Learning Outcomes - Map existing courses and administrative workflows to find exactly where AI strengthen's what's already working - Identify your institution's existing AI policies and procedures so you know exactly what's permitted before building anything - Build AI-assisted course materials, feedback, and advising communication without rebuilding your curriculum - Define what responsible, discipline-specific AI use looks like in your field, and teach it directly to students - Evaluate AI-generated content against disciplinary and institutional standards before it is used - Deploy a role-specific AI assistant built for teaching or administrative work Delivery Method This course is a live, virtual course. Sessions will also be recorded for participants to access after each live event. In order to receive a certificate, participants must attend the live virtual in-person sessions or complete the learning module content, and complete a final project and reflection. Enrollment ends a week before the first day of class.
