CompTIA Security+

The need for cybersecurity talent is growing as organizations continue to expand and develop their technology-based business applications. Cybersecurity specialists can help organizations manage and improve information security. This course focuses on preparing the learner to take the popular CompTIA Security+ exam and address real-world security challenges across the five areas outlined by the Security+ exam objectives, including: General Security Concepts, Threats, Vulnerabilities and Mitigations, Security Architecture, Security Operations, and Security Program Management and Oversight. Prerequisites: Basic Windows user skills and a fundamental understanding of computer and networking concepts, CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications (or equivalent knowledge), and six to nine months' experience in networking, including configuring security parameters, are strongly recommended. To be successful, students should possess knowledge of: (1) The fundamental building blocks that form a modern network, such as protocols, media, topologies, and hardware. (2) Knowledge of the most important concepts in contemporary networking, such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, wireless transmission, virtual networks, security, and troubleshooting. (3) Installing, deploying, configuring, checking, and keeping systems that run Microsoft Windows OS. Installation, system images, application, networking, resource allocation, mobile computing, monitoring, maintenance, backup, and recovery topics are included. (4) Basic computer components, set up a basic workstation, conduct basic software installation, set up basic network connectivity, find compatibility issues, and identify/prevent basic security risks. The course includes training to prepare for the CompTIA Security+ exam. The course is online and self-paced. The instructor provides support to ensure participants have quality experiences.
