A high school diploma and four (4) years of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
Researches, processes and prepares correspondence and reports expeditiously in a concise and professional manner. Files and maintains tracking system of correspondence. Responds to letters of a general nature that require thorough knowledge of agency policies as requested by management. Plans, coordinates and/or performs standard and complex management support service activities for a maintenance unit including fiscal, personnel, procurement, data or supplies functions. Responsible for all paperwork dealing with personnel issues and new hires.
Assists employees with all benefits and insurance concerns and paperwork. Coordinates all incoming mail including independently reviewing, distributing, and sorting as necessary in order of urgency. Responsible for payroll and transmission. Has knowledge of new Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS) and its various programs including Work Requests, Daily Work Reports, and Contract Module. Assists foremen with any problems in HMMS. Supervises, trains and monitors tasks of Administrative Specialist and Trades Specialist II. Supervises and trains Administrative Specialist in preparing payroll, HMMS and other related reports and files. Prepares and evaluates employee performance and administers personnel
and disciplinary actions. Evaluates credentials to determine if certification requirements are met for specific occupational areas. Attends briefings and/or meetings as authorized or delegated.
