Requirements:

A high school diploma and four (4) years of experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resource Regulations.
Experience in bridge maintenance and some aspects of bridge construction.

Job Description:

Performs a variety of complex technical support with some administrative support for the Director of Maintenance/Bridge Maintenance Office personnel. Assists Bridge Maintenance Engineer with researching information in analyzing data from the Bridge Inventory and Bridge Management Systems. Creates and maintains spreadsheets and databases. Creates and distributes monthly State Owned Bridge Fact Cards; with information in regards to total number of bridges, total structurally deficient and functionally obsolete bridges, load restricted bridges and bridges that are closed. Maintains various bridge infrastructure reports. Assists in processing OSOW superload permit requests. Assists other engineers in the Bridge Maintenance Office in preparing plans and bid documents. Prepares and maintains correspondence and retention schedules. Files and logs sheets for Asbestos Surveys and Requests, Soil Borings, Foundation Reviews, DHEC Reports, Encroachment Permits, Statement of Transfer of Titles, Movable Bridge Reports, Bridge Painting Projects and Bridge Rehabilitation and Repairs. Coordinates all incoming mail to include independently reviewing, distributing, and sorting as necessary in order of urgency.
