ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1)Fills in for the Parks and Recreation Director in his absence.
2)Manages the Parks and Recreation Supervisor and part time employees on a daily basis.
3)Mows and maintains parks and open spaces areas such as baseball, football, and multipurpose fields. Maintains outdoor basketball and tennis courts. Maintains the sprinkler systems.
4)Maintains playgrounds and greenways.
5)Maintains park buildings, restrooms, fountains.
6)Performs, minor building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
7)Plants lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers and maintains throughout the seasons at parks and Activities Center.
8)Picks up litter throughout the parks and empties trash cans.
9)Prepares ball fields for games and practices.
10)Assist the Director in managing youth and adult recreation programs, including overseeing games and practices.
11)Maintains the conditioning, distribution, and collecting of athletic equipment.
12)Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for parks and recreation programs.
13)Helps with special projects, events, and programs as needed.
14)Works with Director to schedule athletic events and facility usages.
15)Keeps the department in compliance with all safety precautions, hazardous materials, and MSD records and represents the department on the cities Safety Committee.
16)Performs related duties as required.
Possess a valid SC driver?s license
CPR/Red Cross certification preferred
Must be bondable
Must be available to the public and the ability to maintain good relationships in the community.
Assists the Director in all aspects of managing the department, manages two parks and recreation supervisors, and maintains the city?s athletic fields, parks, and facilities and oversees recreation programs.
